A minimalist stage production of Jules Massenet: Thaïs

The plot is interpreted various ways, depending on who sees the play as it is complex enough to have different interpretations; however, it is well-executed and will capture your attention as you realize it is not the story but the visuals and excellent singing by various presenters as Thaïs being sung by an Italian coloratura Eva Mei known for Don Giovanni (2007), La Traviata (2006). There are a few duets, and they tossed in some scantily clothed dancers. There is even a bed of roses. Between acts, we break to see the orchestra.
This is the only version of Thaïs I have seen. So, I cannot compare to any stage production or other recordings. I only watched to fill in a cultural blank spot. I have to confess limited French, so I had to use English Subtitles the first time through.
I also had to take some time reading the story so I could know what I would be prepared ahead of time to know what I was about to watch; This helped immensely.
