A bit of buyers remorse for such a pricey book...

I must start by saying that I’m an avid fan of Amanda Ashley AND her alter ego, Madeline Baker. This book has been eluding me for years — always listed for a high price I wasn’t willing to pay (seriously, $70 on amazon—what???). Of course, this only made me want it more. Finally it showed up on my wish list here, and for a deal at $40 (compared to the other venues)—so, I bought it... I feel quite bad in saying that I’m disappointed. It’s two novellas in one — the masquerade story being quite short, and frankly, unremarkable compared to the other amazing vampire romances from this author. The second story was so much better (and in fact, I devoured it in one shot) — an older story that Mandy wrote prior to being published, I guess? All in all, this book was okay. Def entertaining—just not worth $40 in my opinion.
