"Masks: Ten Amazing Masks To Assemble and Wear" is a 1987 publication by Atlantic Monthly. There is no explanation why this publisher chose this subject other than the blurb on the back cover: "With this book anyone--man or woman, child or adult--can assume a glorious variety of new identities--for Halloween, New Year's and other public celebrations, private parties, or just for the fun of it. Selected from cultures all the world over, from Japan to Venice and West Africa, these masks require only glue and your imagination." There is no introduction. Page one of this oversized (14 x 10) text begins with the story of Tutankhamun and his discoverer, Howard Carter. The next nine include: Carnival Mask Medusa (the snakes are creepy) Gargoyle the Devil Chinese Dragon mask African mask the Minotaur American Indian Spirit Mask Kabuki Character The sets of instructions and masks follow. For particular collectors or teachers, this would make a great addition to one's library or work projects.
