The two beautiful sisters of Lazarus from Bethany are known for their contrasting approaches to serving Jesus, their master and the best friend of their brother. While Martha focused on practical needs, ensuring that Jesus and his disciples were comfortable, Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet, listening to his teachings.

Serving Jesus openly and clinging to His words on the altar is commendable, but we must not overlook those who work behind the scenes. Someone cleaned the sanctuary, provided water to soothe the preacher's throat after a sermon or song, and ensured others' needs were met. The "Martha's" of this generation fulfill these vital roles.

Despite their different approaches, both Mary and Martha were deeply devoted to Jesus and expressed their faith through their actions. Their story demonstrate that both active service and spiritual reflection are essential aspects of any ministry, each complementing the other in the work of God.
