True Hope for Healing in Broken Marriages or Make a Good Marriage Better!

Pastor Steve Carr does an extraordinary job of presenting Biblical counsel to married couples. I think this should be a must read for premarital counseling as well. Pastor Steve and his wife Susan have been married for 34 years and offer such a sweet blessing of wisdom and love to those in need of it. Their own story of their pasts fills you with hope. His first chapter is all about having a willing heart. It has changed how my husband views everything in our marriage. My husband never understood how important the willingness of your heart to success. We are still in the process of healing a destroyed marriage that went to divorce court. Married and How to Stay That Way will open your eyes to your own faults too. One spouse may be more to blame, but you will soon learn you have more than your share of areas to deal with too if you desire a healthy marriage. However, there are times that a spouse will choose the way of the world no matter what you do and at times like those, I appreciate Steve Carr's empathy and compassion. He does not push the unrealistic "stander's" type of ministry that leaves so many godly spouses without a home or their children, giving them over to the wayward spouse thinking God has to heal the marriage if they do this + that, when God's Word makes NO such promise. I know wonderful people who did nothing to protect their children from their "sick" spouse and who have now lost their spouse and children to the world. This is by far the best study on marriage I have seen. Steve applies biblical principles to all areas of your marriage. This book is for those who are ready to call it quits and those who just need a tune-up. Better if completed in a group setting but I am sure individual couples can effectively complete the study.

At Last!

At last, a book on marriage that isn't filled with fluff! Between the covers are the pratical answers straight from God's instruction book on how to have a happy, lifelong marriage. The author covers real life issues that we deal with on a daily basis. So many books today are filled with cute anecdotes and ways to manipulate a marriage. Not here. In this book we are given instruction on how to truly love and nurture our mate, not focus on what our own selfish wants and desires are. Contrary to most thinking this is the key to a sucessful marriage. I recommend this book to anyone who is truly seeking godly answers about how to heal, correct or just improve your marriage relationship. Get out your knife and fork; this is meat!

Steve Carr's insight into marriage hits deeply at the roots of many of todays problems. One of the best books on marriage and romance I have ever read.Steve gives us God's perspective on marriage. I highly recommend this book to anyone whether married or planning on marriage. A must read!

I found "Married and How to Stay that Way" to be the most thorough and biblically detailed book on marriage I can remember. This is a must, not only for everyone who wants a successful and happy marriage, it is an indispensable tool for all "lay" counselors who wish to offer relevant and authoritative instruction to our friends and neighbors who may need some help in their marriage. Steve has done the "heavy lifting" by compiling a comprehensive work that gleans from within the whole counsel of Scripture, God's mind and plan for being married and staying married. I say "Bravo" and "about time!" If you really want to know what and how God expects mariages to be, even when the tough times come, and you don't want a half-biblical, half-psychological approach to working out a marriage....This book is for you!
