Marinefish and shellfish immunology

Today, immunology is a very complex and sophisticated area of biology, which has become one of the most versatile research tools in biology and medicine, as well as a powerful weapon in the armoury of prevention and management of several viral and bacterial diseases. In general, empirically developed vaccines based on inactivated bacterial pathogens have proven to be very efficacious in fish. Fewer commercially available viral vaccines and no parasite vaccines exist. The predominant target of this report is to develop vaccine to control Bacterial infections. Aquaculture industry is a boon to mankind that helps to meet the growing food demand. Bacterial disease outbreaks impose a significant constraint in fish and shellfish production. Vibriosis is one of the most prevalent fish diseases caused by bacteria.
