Maria is offered a movie part in a film and she wants to give the money to the local day care center which needs a new roof. But she's nervous about her acting and whether she can do it after not acting for a few years. I like how the book is written realistically and how everything is described. I love the parts where they all dress up in funky thrift store clothes and market it to the school in time for the movie shoot and all. It's really a great book to read.

Maria tells a wonderful story! I love the part when She says Janet Howell was a big Bossy Snob! Maria gets a part in a movie and The Unicorns as extras to fix up the Day care center they work at after school. They get a new Unicorn,Evie Kim[An Asian] plus they get cool Unicorn Club Jackets for being in the movie.
