She details her memories of wartime and post war contacts with American soldiers and her eventual marriage to one. She describes her impressions of America and her struggles to make a life for her self and her children while dealing with a strange language and customs. Telling of her many difficulties and problems, she describes how she eventually becomes a contributor to the country's space program only to be left on her own when the contractors moved their operations. The story concludes when she is almost eighty years old and has fallen on difficult times, but as always, she is moving onward and upward.
