At the young age of 18, Yokari set out to explore and ended up taking a gap year in Senegal, where she lived for eight months post high-school. During her gap year, to cope with the homesickness and make sense of her life thus far, she began writing her first book, Margarita.
Based on many true stories, Margarita is a collection of poetry, prose, and photography inspired by Yokari's mother. She says, "When we honor our mothers, we honor ourselves." Buen provecho.
