Two students have previously died in Margaret's new dormitory room and more troubling events follow: a resident commits suicide, another is arrested for drug dealing and murder, and an explosion rocks the building. Margaret must negotiate with a notorious crime boss; and she discovers an abused wife and sex slavery tools at the home she babysits. But Margaret has allies too: Vladimir, a former general in Russia's Presidential Security Service, who considers her a daughter; the Followers of Dike, a computer hacker group at neighboring Columbia University; a disabled lawyer, Margaret's father, whose actions exemplify courage; and her boyfriend, Randy, who is the love of her life.
R. L.
