One night before a school holiday, our niece Stephanie called our son, Marco. She had found and purchased a silver cross of a certain type he'd long been looking for, to wear around his neck. I watched my son's face light up as she described it. Stephanie promised to deliver it the next evening. The following afternoon, Marco lost his life in a fatal accident near our home.
