Many Mansions consists of Angel and Daughter of Cain Angel is a fifteen year-old girl who escapes from a mental institution and embarks on a strange adventure into alternate dimensions of reality with her "imaginary" friend Selena. It is only after a long journey among the interstices between the worlds that she discovers who she really is and then, through an act of supreme sacrificial love, she is enabled to accomplish redemption and the resurrection of her people.In the first part of Daughter of Cain, a girl named Kthosamun awakens in a cave deep beneath the earth with only a residual sense that this subterranean realm is the only world that exists. When she accidentally exits the cavern and enters the world above, she is utterly overwhelmed by this "unenclosed and pathless space." She sets off upon a series of adventures and along the way she joins up with a teenaged girl named Alison and discovers her name and the meaning of it.In the second part, we meet Alison, who is actually a changeling. Her real name is Parousia, daughter of Genesia, who is guardian of the land bordering the Abyss of Chaos. The key is passed on to her and it is her mission to carry it to the Abyss at the End of the World and thereby destroy its power.
