Practical Homesteading is no longer Practical

This is a very dated book, from the 70's. The numbers throw out, in terms of expenses are very dated, as are move of the ways to get things done. There are a few good points, and their Christmas story was heartwarming, but I feel this information can be found with more up to date information. This book was also falling apart when I opened it.

Timeless. Complete. Thorough. Essential. Do your best to add this book to your personal library collection. John Vivian is one of the key authors on Self-sufficiency, well before it become 'the ethical thing' to do. His knowledge and advice has been well-tested and has stood on firm footing through the decades.

Best book for a wannabe dreamer

I'm a wannabe who dreams of chucking the corporate life of commutes and taxes. I've read a lot of back-to-the-land books both old and newer and this is the best one I've found to date.
