My favorite book on child rearing!

As a parent of 8 children and guardian of a troubled teen nephew, I have found this book to be a lifesaver. We discovered it shortly after my first child was born and read it with new eyes as our children grow through different stages in their lives - including adulthood. It is packed with true principles and excellent examples and stories that are easily understood. I have met with Dr. Robinson and find that his life exemplifies his teachings. It is a priceless tool for any parent or someone who wants to point out the parenting problems you see in friends and relatives. You'll know what you and they are doing wrong.

Tried and True Parenting Tips

I read this book when it first came out, and used its principles to raise my four children. They range in age from 13-24 years old, and no major problems yet. My two boys are Eagle Scouts, one is studying Electrical Engineering on a full scholarship and about to be married, the other is in South Africa on a two year mision for our church. My girls are in middle and high school, are respectful to their parents, work hard in school, and the older has her black belt in Tae Kwon Do, while the younger just earned her red belt. I am a high school teacher, and if every parent read this book, we would have responsible citizens with better attitudes.

Dr. Robinson was a professor of mine at the university. He has a real understanding and love for children. This book is applicable and comprehendable to everyone. I think every parent or anyone who deals closely with children should read it.

THE BEST BOOK I'VE READ ON PARENTING

I don't know why it's out of print. It's WONDERFUL.It has great ideas on Natural Methods of Parenting. It shows how to train kids to do what they should do. It shows ways of training them to quit doing things they shouldn't do.This book is written by a man who practices what he preaches. He has two children, but has also taken in MANY foster children over the years (even violent ones), and the methods he teaches in the book work just as well on the difficult foster kids.--George Stancliffe
