I found this book in a used book store. I was drawn by Martin Caidin Author to the book based on the Six Million Dollar Man. I was a huge fan of the series and thought this sounded good. Boy am I glad I decided to buy it. I wasn't disappointed. The story is about a man whose body is badly deformed due to a nuclear accident. His girlfriend is a engineer that creates the Manfac system. These Manfacs are biosuits that he can get inside of. Once inside he looks like a regular person. Its like being inside a terminator shell. Now he can move faster, stronger than a normal human. He has several shells to choose from. So he can change race, face and voice. I miss the imagination of the science fiction of the 70's and 80's. Sure much of it was ill-researched but it was still a joy to read. The adventure was the main theme. Plausibility was secondary. Don't get me wrong the Manfac story is far better researched and more believable than the Six Million Dollar Man. Now I hear that they are reviving the bionic woman. I would rather see a new version of the Six Million Dollar Man. However if you find this book. Trust me its well worth your time.

Enjoyed the book immensely. Read it in two sittings. Although, it is a bit dated socially, it is a good story and held my interest to the end. I find most of this authors books(at least in the sci fi catagory) to be very readable.
Manfac-a real cyborg

This book by the author of "Cyborg", (the Six Million Dollar Man was based on that book) is outstanding, and actually addresses and pokes fun at the physical impossibilities in the earlier books, like a man running 60mph. The background research for the book would appear to be impeccably done from what I know of burn treatment and nuclear reactors. This was a great read, I'm glad I hung on to the book since it appears to be out of print. It would be nice if there were a sequel.

I don't read a lot of books, but I couldn't put this one down. It's about this guy who gets incapacitated in an underground science lab and then puts himself inside these biomechanical suits that make him look like giant bodybuilders. He then saves the world from nuclear destruction. I really enjoyed it.
