Mandala is an ancient form of meditative art. It is a great tool to use in conjunction with cognitive-behavioral based therapy, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The imagery and coloring of Mandala can be used to develop skills in self-soothing, distraction, imagery, and other areas of DBT. The beautiful patterns, vibrant colors, and relaxing action of coloring offer many a helpful way of learning how to behave in a comforting, nurturing, kind, and gentle way to themselves. I used drawing Mandala as part of my therapy. These drawings are all by hand and therefore may not have the polished look of the professional. There were all done by a labor of love and a desire to find inner peace.
