The kiss Mama blew to her little girl goes merrily astray, slipping and sliding and sashaying from cheek to cheek . . . until it finally lands just right where it belonged. Told in jaunty verse, award-winning Jane Yolen's clever fantasy offers warm and witty affirmation that it is indeed love that makes the world go round.
You Might Not be Able to Travel the World Over, but Your Love Can

"Mama's Kiss": You might not be able to travel the world over, but your love can I am one of those moms who chose to stay home with her children. I have to say that I sometimes wonder: Is there life out there (as Reba has belted out in one of her country hits)? What type of impact, if any, am I making upon this world? The answer is that I could actually be making quite a profound impact on this world of our's. It's all in how I choose to react to situations, how I choose to face the day, and how I relate to others (and probably much more). This is what I got from, of all places, a simple little children's picture book. Mama's Kiss tells the story of the travels of Mama's Kiss. Of course, we all know that kisses don't really travel around the world. But our actions can. How we relate to our children can affect the world greatly. We teach them how to react with others. We can also show them how to impact the world, and our love and lessons can, quite literally, travel the world. I don't know if our children will learn that from reading this simple picture book (unless we shared this with them, at their level). Of course, the book could do just that. Maybe.... Find out where Mama's kiss goes, and where it ends up in the end. It just might surprise you where all of your efforts end up at, and who the effect the most!
The Power of a Mother's Kiss
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Mama's Kiss shows the power of this mother's kiss. Once she blows her daughter a kiss, it travels and meets people and creatures along the way. It brings a smile to faces along the way before bouncing off onto the next recipient. Bears, bees, dogs and cats are all some of the things this kiss bestows. Remember when you were a kid? A mom's hug and kiss are the most powerful medicine in the world. Though this kiss is on a long journey, it ends up on the daughter's cheek just in time for bed. Yolen demonstrates just how important affection is. Baxter's illustrations are cheery and whimsical. This is a perfect book for a bedtime story. Reviewed by Jennifer LeBrun
