Mama Bear: Short Lessons in Hope for When Life's a Big Bear

You would think that after a military career that spanned decades, I would simply snap to and say, "Yes, Sir " when God makes a request. But, no.... Despite years of prompting, I responded to the post-communion call with, "Mama Bear? What is that? A children's book? What am I supposed to do with a book called 'Mama Bear'? Where am I supposed to find the time to write this book?" After dealing with a decade of dawdling, God was ready with a recommendation to dispel any further delay. A good friend told me about her missionary son who prays for an hour a day, in addition to going to daily mass. He gives at least two hours a day to listening for God's word and promptings. Mother Theresa prayed for up to two hours a day and still kept up with the demands of running a ministry that had global impact. As these examples of time management and self-discipline surfaced, God countered my hesitation with "You start each day with 'Not my will but thine be done.' Are those just words you write or have I written them on your heart?" Ouch So, writing "Mama Bear" seemed like a reasonable request.I don't know God's plans for this book but I hope that it fell into your hands and moves into your heart, reminding you that the life God plans for you is what happens while you're busy making your own plans.
