This is the first written account of the days leading up to the 1st Hunger Strike in the H blocks. Malachy Trainor shared a cell with Brendan Hughes, the IRA commander in the H blocks. Bobby Sands was in the next cell. During the No Wash/Dirty Protest, Malachy returned from a visit, forcibly washed and beaten. Shocked Brendan Hughes and Bobby Sands hunkered down and planned the first Hunger Strike. Included are historical references leading up to the Blanket, No Wash Protest and the Hunger Strike.
