A great historical novel

It is the middle of the 17th century and the Ukraine is overrun by Chmielnicki and his hordes. Although their declared enemy is the Polish nobility their main victims are the Jews. With great sensitivity, Robert Reimer has written a fine novel rich in detail and historical background. His main character is Elisha, a simple Jewish farmer who matures as the plot unfolds. He develops the courage and conviction to prevail in an unfair and dangerous world.

Great book!

Great book! I will recommend this book to everyone. In few years when my kids are older I hope we will read it together so they can get an idea about the jewish life in Ukraine of 1648. We are waiting for the sequel...

"Making The Wind Blow" blew me away

I found this book to be compelling and fast paced. It gave me a glimpse of what it must have been like to live in a time and place which impacted history and I was previously unaware of. The characters bought the story to life and I found myself caring about them and their struggle. I highly recommend this book.

An exciting historical "what if" read

What if Jews had risen up to wreak vengeance on Bohan Chmielnicki , their most bloodthirsty oppressor since the Crusaders? With vivid imagination and intelligence, Robert Riemer has created a mid-17th century world in which Jews break free from the terror which suffocates Eastern Europe to turn the tables on their would-be executioners. "Making the Wind Blow" is an exciting and satisfying read.
