Mathias E. Mnyampala (1917-1969) was a renowned Tanzanian lawyer, writer, and poet who composed his works in Kiswahili. The original manuscript of his autobiography was written between 1968 and 1969, shortly before his passing. This unpublished work remained hidden for decades until its discovery in 2007 in Dodoma (United Republic of Tanzania) by Dr. Mathieu Roy who, acting on the guidance of Professor Mugyabuso Mlinzi Mulokozi, located the author's heir. This 2014 edition features the identical text of the 2013 edition-which was the first posthumous publication of the original manuscript-but is presented as an affordable student edition intended for schools. The document was preserved in Dodoma, alongside other unpublished manuscripts and rare literary archives, by Charles M. Mnyampala-the author's second son. In 1969, Charles was entrusted by his father with the mission to conserve and eventually publish these precious records. While this Kiswahili edition is a more concise version of the primary volume (in terms of format and price), it retains Mnyampala's complete autobiographical text and includes an introduction by Charles M. Mnyampala.
