Book Overview

Magpie shot off like a bolt from a catapult. He whizzed up into the sky above the hill and then swept down in a fierce circle around the she-oaks, his wings hissing through the air like knives. Magpie is marooned alone on an island. He is a sad, lonely figure. A castaway. Robinson Crusoe Magpie ... Until young Benny finds him a mate.

MAHMOUD'S SUPER DUPER REVIEW

It was a wonderful book it made me cry it is one of the best book's i have read u should read it too.It rocks

maeve's review

I think that magpie island is a wonderful example of colin thiele's brilliant writing skills. I found myself feeling sad happy excited and worried all in one. The descrptive writing helps you to understand how magpie would have felt. You can see how the magpie's situation is similar to that of some people in the world e.g. people moving into a new street , country , school ect, ect. I think that benny truly wanted to help magpie but his idea went a bit wrong! I feel that magpie island is one of the best books i have ever read and probably will ever read. *****

Sam's review about a super book

I realy liked this book because it was a very descriptive book and it was good because he made it an Australian book about magpies and I am saying if you ever pass your local library you should run in and borrow this amazing book and read it.
