There she soon learns how to navigate the plethora of new species and new realities she must face as part of her role as pioneer. She also meets Rockheart, a rugged woodland fairy with a murky past who calls her his 'favorite enemy, ' yet seems to go out of his way to protect her. As children in the area go missing, and Rockheart stands accused by a shadowy government agent of being involved, Emma is forced to chose the route she will take as she desperately tries to define her relationship with her 'favorite enemy' while avoiding any actions that could lead directly to a full-scale war between superpowers.
