MAGGIE’S GRAVE by David Sodergren A folk horror set in a Scottish town named Achenmullen. With a population of only 47 people, the town’s claim to fame is the cursed grave of a woman named Maggie Wall who was accused of being a witch in the 1650s and subsequently hanged. Now it’s present day and Maggie’s back for revenge. This has all the things; blood and guts oozing and squishing, torn limbs and broken bones… The gore is a bit gratuitous (the bowling alley scene!), but I enjoyed it. Am I too desensitized? Probably. But that’s what I love about a good (not so scary) horror. This is my first David Sodergren book and I’m looking forward to reading more of his work. Recommend for my fellow horror fans. Rating: 4/5 ⭐️
