"Madison's Retreat", set in rural Deep South and spun with the majestic beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Jackson County North Carolina as the backdrop, is the heartfelt love story of Madison Hastings and Tyler Sullivan.Madison is struggling with ending her ten-year marriage to her high school sweetheart, Michael, when by chance she meets the actor Tyler Sullivan.A modern day depiction of "Gone With the Wind's" Rhett and Scarlett loosely parallels with Tyler and Madison. The chance meeting of two individuals in seach of nothing more than a sporting evening escalates from fun conversation to an affair. Frustrations mount as fantasy clashes with reality. Madison is torn betwen her family, her Christian mores and the love of another man, Tyler Sullivan.
I read this book in one night! It was a very pleasant read, reminiscent of "Bridges of Madison County", yet with a better ending! Uplifting and triumphant -- like "An Officer and A Gentleman"! I enjoyed the fact that the author focused on the conversations between Tyler and Madison throughout the book rather than getting bogged down with too much descriptive narrative.
