At forty, Madeleine lives alone in Brest. She works as an estate agent, has occasional flings with men that don't stay; men she'd like to retain but who are satisfied with one night and disappear afterwards.
One morning, she receives a call from Paris at the agency. A man called Castellot is looking for houses in the region. He arrives the next day. This one is interested in her. At the beginning, she does not believe it. He is a married man with children, why would he come back to her bed in a freezing town of Brittany?
She is wrong. Castellot does come back and while she makes up her mind on whether or not he is the man of her life, he is thinking of changing his life, wife - his whole affective environment.
Both seem inconsolable but it is not the same grief that fills them. Of the two, the one who will come out best of this strange adventure is obviously not the one that one would have expected to.

Since her beginnings as a writer Amanda Sthers never stopped surprising us. She followed an autobiographical novel, Ma place sur la photo (Grasset, 2004), with a novel set in New-York's Jewish district, Chicken street (Grasset, 2005), before moving to play writing with the remarkable and extremely successful Le Vieux Juif blonde (Grasset, 2006).
