Made Local The author was born in China and now resides in New York. His journey in the manufacturing and export industry began in 1986, in one of China's bustling cities during the early days of the country's economic reform. Over the course of his career, he have built and operated more than 10 factories across China, Australia, Bangladesh, and the United States, giving him firsthand experience of the global manufacturing landscape. As a witness to China's meteoric rise in manufacturing since the 1980s, the author observed how Western factories gradually ceded their dominance, leading to closures and the loss of critical industrial capabilities. In 2019, during the establishment of a factory in the U.S., He experienced the challenges of reviving manufacturing in struggling American communities and saw the systemic issues that hinder progress.
