Life hasn't always been easy. My father was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq two weeks before I turned five. I grew up with my mother and grandpa, but mom had her addictions and grandpa had his drinking problem. High school, for me, was really just a chance to get away from home. I was the token misfit kid that every school has-I think my peers just tolerated me. But then there was Sam. Kind and thoughtful, he seemed to be more at peace with life than I was. They said he was a Latter-day Saint. I wanted to find out more about him. My name is "Mad Leigh", and this is my story.
