Sky-rocketing salaries, ticket prices shooting through the roof, leagues going on strike, teams up and leaving their cities -- how is a fan to stay loyal amidst the chaos of contemporary sports?From... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've always appreciated Lupica for what he does: speaks his mind, not what everyone wants to hear and stay on the bandwagon. Here he sounds off about what some of us at least feel is a tragedy: sports have been taken away from us. The money, the corruption, the trades, the teams moving, no concern for the integrity of the sport.Problem is: culture is too pragmatic and success oriented for guys like us. This all falls on deaf hears, but few will read this and enjoy honesty and love for the sport that this guy has. We're with you Mike!

A book for the fans by a fan. A bible for what is wrong with sports. This book made me feel like someone cared that athletes, and owners were destryoing sports with money and egos. I know I was Mad As Hell. Still am! However I know someone is one are side. I want to take back the game. We pay their salaries. They work for us. Right Mike?
Watch SportsCenter? Then Buy 'Mad As Hell'

I read this book 2 years ago and it remains the most poignant sports commentary that I've ever come across. At once, it's sad, it's disturbing, it's infuriating, it's funny, it's sharp, and it's wonderfully interesting. I've reccommended this book many times before to any sports fan and I'll continue doing it until 'Mad As Hell' gets the attention in the sports world it deserves. There's too much crap going on in sports that fans accept because, well, it's sports. But perhaps change can be brought about if fans take a stand and no book makes you want to do that more than Lupica's "Mad As Hell".

This is the Lupica book that I have brought and from what I have read it is a very funny book. I could not stop laughing at some sections.
Lupica is right on!!!

Lupica has once again hit the nail on the head. Be it his commentary on Imus, weekly columns, or ranting on the Sports Reporters, Lupica captures the disgust of today's sports and our irony of choices. If we "do something about it",i.e not spend dollars on sporting events, we deprive ourselves of the sports we love!
