Macro Perspectives of Peer and Family Systems Support: Participant Workbook

This is the final course of the Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) Trimester series. This RCP series is compiled and delivered by Recovery 4 All. Our presentation and some of the materials presented in the modules are adapted from the various sources in the field of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) to address additional learning areas that provide education hours toward state requirements for the Peer support and the Recovery Coach Professional designation credential. Our trimester series includes the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Consideration for Recovery Coaches and the Recovery 4 All, Macro-Perspectives of Peer and Family Systems Support. Throughout the training, participants are presented with the necessary knowledge and skills on how to apply practical, compassionate solutions and support to individuals and families on their path to and in Recovery using an assets-based model as opposed to a deficit model. After many years of training in the field of substance use disorders, it is clear that "supporters of recovery" (e.g., family and significant others as well as supporters and addiction support services) can be highly effective in their roles as Recovery Coach Professionals offering recovery support services. Frequently, we hear: people who are in recovery from addiction say, "how can you help me if you are not in recovery from addiction.?" Well, it is quite possible that those people have learned a thing or two about how to manage life on life's terms without self-medicating. This training, MPP/FSS covers a lot in the areas of whole health. Other areas we cover are, self-care, advocacy, motivational interviewing, and compassion fatigue. One whole day is devoted to family systems that cover such things as, family roles, co-dependency, enabling, and traits of a healthy family.
