Macomb

By: Gomez, Alex

Every August, his sister lights a candle for the brother she thinks is dead.

Leon Haynes walked out of the Harrow Creek mine with broken ribs, a dead monster behind him, and one name he never expected to hear again: his sister's. Naomi isn't dead. For twenty years she has been kept in New Orleans, in the court of the oldest thing he has ever hunted.

Now a hurricane is bearing down on the Gulf, the city is emptying out, and the only road to Naomi runs through the drowned marshes east of town to Fort Macomb, a ruined brick fort that has never once flooded. The old ones hold it. The queen who took his family is waiting inside. And she has an offer for him.

With a ribbon-blade and scale armor from a dead hunter's cellar, a borrowed boat, and the sun running out, Leon goes in on the night the storm makes landfall.

He came to bring his sister home. He may have to lose everything to do it.

MACOMB is the conclusion of the complete HAYNES duology.
