This book was written and illustrated by Julie Nadeau. She is a lifelong artist and devoted art teacher with more than twenty years of experience inspiring young creators. Throughout her career, she has taught art to children of all ages and has always believed that stories and creativity go hand in hand. She often reads children's literature during her art lessons, using books to spark imagination and see the world in new and colorful ways.

The idea for this book arrived one morning on her drive to school, when she found herself waiting for a large, unhurried flock of turkeys to cross the road. As she watched them wander by, she imagined a turkey who, just like many children, might feel different, unsure or out of place. That moment blossomed into the story of a special turkey who discovers that everyone has something unique about them.
