Limits of Competence of the Federal Constitutional Court in the Course of Time Based on the growing political importance of the Federal Constitutional Court, the work examines the constitutional limits of the court. In doing so, the decisive role of norm binding for the court's decision-making competence becomes clear. Sufficient norm binding can only be achieved through a method of interpretation that takes the will of the norm maker seriously. The work shows how such a constitutional method can endure in practice. German description: Ausgehend von der gewachsenen politischen Bedeutung des Bundesverfassungsgerichts seit seiner Grundung im Jahre 1951 untersucht die Arbeit die verfassungsrechtlichen Grenzen des Gerichts. Dabei wird die entscheidende Rolle der Normbindung fur die Entscheidungskompetenz des Gerichts deutlich. Eine hinreichende Normbindung kann nur durch eine Interpretationsmethode erreicht werden, die den Willen des Normgebers ernst nimmt. Eine starkere Fokussierung auf den Willen des Verfassungsgebers ist methodisch moglich. Die Entwicklungspotentiale der Verfassung bleiben dabei gewahrt. Die Arbeit zeigt am Beispiel des Ehebegriffs in Art. 6 Abs. 1 GG, wie eine solche verfassungskonforme Interpretationsmethode in der Praxis Bestand haben kann.
