Fine reading for the apprentice and the all around machinist

This text not only covers a number of machining projects, it also contains some "tall tales" of machinists and gunmakers at their trade. Whether or not the tales are true is really immaterial, they are great reading. Guy Lautard has a very readable style of writing, clearly conveying the details of the projects he presents. The details are sometimes wrapped around a storyline, too. My copy sits on my nightstand, next to volume one of the Machinist's Bedside Reader, and my 13th, 14th, and 15th editions of Machinery's Handbook. I am looking forward to purchasing Volume 3!
Easy to read with lots of good information.

This is an easy reading book that puts a lot of good useful information in your hands. Although, it may be considered to simple for the experienced machinest it is excellent for the vast majority of us who work in our home shops as a hobby.
