A GRAND, HIGH SEAS ADVENTURE...

Macedonia Passage: Dangerous Cargo is a sweeping adventure that takes the reader, right along with the colorful cast of characters, on a wild ride across the Atlantic and on to the Mediterranean Sea. When Frank Brown, a widowed, wearied Vietnam vet takes on the job as skipper of the Belle Tata, he immediately asks mate Mike Long what happened to the former captain and cook, but neither Long nor anyone else has the answers. Uneasy yet determined to go forth with his new job, Brown lines up three applicants to replace the cook, but two of them mysteriously disappear before their scheduled interviews. The curious man Brown is left to hire, George Savastano, is the last man anyone would want to know. Not long after the luxury schooner sets sail, Frank Brown and his crew discover cargo hidden in the bilges. They soon learn that the owners of the dangerous stash mean business -- mean business, and Brown and his crew must do everything in their power to delicately balance the appearance of normalcy and stay alive. As the situation becomes more precarious, the beautiful Turkish intelligence agent, Nevser Akkaya Chase, joins them but Brown isn't sure what to make of her, either. Author Wright Gres has written a well-paced, intricately plotted novel that instantly captivates the reader. His extensive knowledge of sailing creates a vivid portraiture of high seas travel, but his clear, readable prose makes for absorbing reading even for those with little or no knowledge of the nautical world. Macedonia Passage is a take-me-away read that compels the reader to not only root for the good guys, but to become emotionally invested in their ultimate fate.

A quintessential novel of high adventure & intrigue - in the vein of Alistair MacLean!

Those of you who grew up reading MacLean novels (the original adventure novelist) will be thrilled to know that Wright Gres is taking over where MacLean left off! The sea plays an important part in this story, taking the reader to exotic parts of the world as settings to his book. (Wonderfully descriptive as Wright has been there himself!) With Wright's direct knowledge of seafaring and excellent writing style, this adventure-thriller has the makings to be considered a classic of sailing/naval fiction.

First rate thriller

I still haven't decided which I liked best - the page-turner story or the absolutely beautiful descriptions of the sailboat, Belle Tata. Wright Gres has written a powerful story set in exotic waters and ancient port cities. The characters are well drawn and it's clear the author knows his stuff when it comes to sailing. I highly recommend this book to readers who love adventure, intrigue, handsome heros, beautiful female agents, and, most of all, the sea.

We need a sequel!!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PAGE AFTER PAGE OF EXCITEMENT AND INTRIGUE, AS WELL AS A BEAUTIFULLY DESCRIBED HISTORY OF THE MEDITERANEAN, THIS IS A MUST READ. THE CHARACTERS JUMP OUT AT YOU TO THE POINT THAT YOU FEEL A PART OF THE CREW. THE HISTORY OF THE PORTS OF CALL ARE DESCRIBED SO WELL YOU CAN VISUALIZE THEM. THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST I'VE READ. HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AS MUCH. GREAT READ WRIGHT. TOM WILLIAMS

High seas blend of danger, courage, and intrigue.

Tugboat captain, sailor, and boat racer Wright Gres presents Macedonia Passage: Dangerous Cargo, an engaging modern-day adventure on the seas, mixed with Balkan politics and a touch of romance. When Captain Frank Brown signs on to join the crew of Belle Tata in a transatlantic crossing from a Caribbean island, he has no idea what he's about to get into. The schooner's former captain and cook have vanished under mysterious circumstances; a perilous cargo is stashed within the yacht's bilges; and one problem after another plagues the voyage. When Brown reaches the Mediterranean, he finds himself caught in a crossroads of authorities and conspirators. Turkish intelligence gets involved, in the person of the comely yet mysterious agent Nevser Akkaya Chase. Together, she and Brown must untangle the mystery, figure out who they can trust, and fight for their lives in this high seas blend of danger, courage, and intrigue.
