In the living forest of lendir , Lydka has grown under the watch of the Primordial Trees in the village of V lanth - yet one absence shapes her more than any lesson: those who were "named to guide her" disappeared long ago. When H ldrin, the ancient beech, finally carves a riddle into its shifting runes, Lydka accepts the trial. Through Daelwyn's mirror of emotions, she feels memories that are not entirely her own... and finds the trail of a borderland "where the season never yields."
Beyond V lanth, her path grows harsher. A grim outpost village keeps watch at the edge of the Veil of the Sources, where the mist hides an unrelenting conflict and every oath comes at a price.
