The Valley of the Sun, Arizona. Ed Scarborough is a millionaire, philanthropist, and restorer of vintage airplanes, but more than this, he's an asshole negotiating the dating scene in 1998.
Ed's life changes when he finds an old, unopened letter, tucked in one of his airplanes describing a technology that allows viewing of another dimension, the world of the dead, and allows the dead to see back. The letter calls this dimension the Luminiferous Aether.
Sparks fly when Ed meets a fun-loving demon-worshipper named Aurora, but he's been enthralled with a fellow engineer, the brilliant and fiery Rebekah Simmons, since college. Rebekah has Ed firmly in the friend zone while yearning for her hunky, gay tango instructor, Tony Tango.
What will happen? Will Ed find the love he wasn't looking for with Aurora? Will he explore the world of the dead, battling demons, and Aurora, with the help of Rebekah and Tony? About the Author
Leo Coombs earned undergraduate degrees in both Electrical Engineering and English Literature prior to receiving his MFA. He lived in Phoenix in the 90s and loved the rich, cultural scene of the time. This novel relies on both his knowledge of that time/place and of obscure electrical technology, and it occurs within the same world as his serialized work A Study of Death by Dr. Louis Manoir, 1926.
