A facsimile of an alchemy manuscript in 164 full page color plates This 15th century manuscript describes various alchemical processes and recipes and is illustrated throughout with drawings of alchemical furnaces and other apparatus. It is named after, and misattributed to, Ramon Llull (c.1232-c.1315) a Majorcan writer, philosopher, logician and member of the Franciscan Order who is credited with writing the first major work of Catalan literature and pioneering election and computation theory. Although Llull wrote no works of alchemy, and was even known to be sceptical of its claims, a large number of alchemical writings were attributed to him in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The manuscript is presently held by the Wellcome Library, London.
