Lucky T Review

Lucky T is one great adventure. My friends inspired me to read it because it was a great page turner. As soon as I read the inside cover I knew this book would be the one for me. Carrie is a girl who has all the luck she could possibly have. From the cutest boyfriend in school to being the only sophomore girl on the varsity basketball team. When her mom sends her Lucky T accidentally to India, Carrie is determined to get it back, but along the way she realizes that there is maybe more to life than having luck. I really enjoyed this book. It was indeed a great page turner. I liked how Carrie goes above and beyond to find a silly T-shirt. To travel around the world like that was crazy, but maybe it was meant to be. It leads her to new friends, love and a completely new life. The new Carrie at the end of this novel might just surprise you. My only dislike about this book was the author's lack of the setting. It didn't make me feel like I was really there. Kate Brian should have included more detail about Indian culture, people's lives and their customs. You wouldn't like this book if you are looking for teenager drama and high school life. Some is portrayed at the beginning, but most of it is about Carrie's life in India. If that is all you read you could still give it a try and enjoy this adventurous novel. If you love adventure and romance then this book is perfect for you. As a ninth grader in high school I really enjoyed it. This book is great for high school students because it shows how life actually is beyond high school walls. It also shows how people can change themselves, make enemies best friends, and be a more helpful person to others.

Have you ever cleaned your room/closet and decided to donate your excess clothes to charity? Maybe it was a mother-ordered mandate to get rid of the clutter? Whatever the reason or inspiration, did you ever give away something you didn't really mean to give? What would you do to get it back? Carrie's mother does just that. She gives Carrie's favorite T-shirt to the Help India foundation. Unfortunately, the T-shirt is not just a T-shirt. It was given to Carrie by her father, and she superstitiously believes it is the reason for every success in her young life. She must get it back. Since the T-shirt is traveling to India, Carrie makes arrangements to travel there, too. Carrie arrives at the Help India headquarters to find herself bunking with several roommates in a hostel. The roommates are horrible, and India is nothing like she expected. She is assigned to the group building homes in Calcutta. Needless to say, Carrie seriously lacks building trade skills. From dropping a hammer on her flip-flop-exposed big toe to dropping a boxful of nails in wet concrete, Carrie is not very popular at the building site. Much to her relief, Carrie meets Dee, who tells her about his work at the Calcutta Children's Shelter. When she's offered a chance to start volunteering there, she decides anything is better than her current situation. Her work with children is the beginning of a new understanding for Carrie. Maybe the T-shirt isn't that important after all. When I started LUCKY T, I was frustrated with the whining of main character Carrie. As the storyline began to unfold, though, it gained depth and purpose, and everything fell into place. Kate Brian gives readers a chance to watch the growth of Carrie and what her experience teaches her about exactly what things/people are important in life. GREAT BOOK!

Lucky T is a book about a girl named Carrie who you would say is superstitious because she believes her tshirt is all the luck she needs. But once the tshirt accidentally disappears, Carrie freaks out and soon enough, her luck vanishes. She finds out that the tshirt has been sent to Help India. Carrie decides that the only way to bring back her life is to get her lucky t back. So she said adios to San Fran and Hello to INdia. Stubborn and selfish as she was, Carrie learns that she had luck all along withOut the tee. I LOVED this book! It shows how u shouldn't take things for granted because you definately have more luck and a better life than someone else in this world.

A Book Like No Other!!!!!!!!!

Lucky T is a great book! It was a bit of a slow starter though but trust me keep reading!!!! The details the Author gives are fantastic! She really makes the time the main character, Carrie spends in India A real treat!! This is a book like no other I've read. Girls ages 13 and up, will fall in love with this book!!!!!

I love Lucky T!

Carrie's lucky T is her most prized possesion. Given to her by her father, who she has rarely seen after her parents' divorce, she insists that her luck is all because of the T. Then, when Carrie's mother gives the t-shirt to Help India, Carrie's luck runs out. Everything goes horribly wrong because of, according to Carrie, the T's disappearance. She decides that she simply has to go to India to get the t-shirt back. Carrie claims that she wants to help her mother's friend build houses for the homeless in India, and soon finds herself on board a plane headed there. While in India, Carrie works at a homeless shelter for children, finds new friends--and even summer romance--while still finding time to search for her lucky T. At first glance, this is a story about a girl finding her lucky t-shirt, but is really a story about forgiveness, loss, and growing up. I love this book! Girls of all ages will enjoy Lucky T, and readers of Kate Brian's other books won't be disappointed. I highly recommend that you buy Lucky T, or at least run to a library and check it out. It'll be worth it.
