A debut pamphlet that is personally profound but playful, spiritually rich, intimate with nature, surreally realistic. It sings.
Lucidities is drawn from work put together slowly over more than ten years and focusing that of decades prior. Publishing this selection was prompted by a changed publishing situation, and world, after Lockdown. The poems are united in trying to make personal sense of a complex world, made more so by misunderstandings. They are moments of lucidity and insight captured from, and despite, a context that includes mental distress and treatment. In gaining clarity they are implicitly interested in healing perspectives. They often step beyond personal story into their themes, and in doing so find some of their clarity. They also follow one healing response, in personal exploration of gender presentation, that can be surprising even to the author in its affect. However they remain true to an interest in the spirit that goes beyond simple labels and the conflicts that so often come with them. That is informed by spiritual wisdom, the best of being human, especially here the teaching of Christ and in Buddhist perspectives.
In all this they play, which may be part of what helps find connection. Poetry of the heart.Related Subjects
