Book Overview

"Lucian The Dreamer" is a collection of satirical essays and dialogues by the ancient Greek writer Lucian of Samosata, translated by Joseph Smith Fletcher. Known for his wit and sharp critique of philosophical and religious beliefs, Lucian's works offer a fascinating glimpse into the intellectual landscape of the 2nd century AD. This volume includes a selection of Lucian's most famous pieces, showcasing his skill in crafting entertaining and thought-provoking narratives. His writings, often humorous, challenge conventional wisdom and explore themes of truth, illusion, and the human condition.
Lucian's enduring appeal lies in his ability to blend philosophical inquiry with engaging storytelling, making his works both intellectually stimulating and a pleasure to read. This edition makes Lucian's insightful and humorous observations accessible to a modern audience, preserving the timeless relevance of his critiques.

This book is a must for the Disney lover!

This book is not only great for those who enjoy Disney (or Pooh), but it's an excellent book to use to begin teaching to your child about feelings. It's so important for them to learn at a young age what their feelings are, and this book does a great job talking about them. Each feeling described in the book is shown in the picture beside it. Those children who are familiar with the cast of Pooh will be able to understand more what they are feeling. For example, it says, "Eeyore is gloomy- because that's just the way he is." Next to it, it shows a picture of Eeyore under a rain cloud with his tail falling off. Overall, I think this book is a must for those parents wanting to teach feelings to their child.

Sweet book!

Accompany Pooh and his friends from the Hundred-Acre-Wood on a tour of emotions. "Shh . . . Sometimes Piglet feels SHY when his friends are being noisy. Oh, no! Roo gets SCARED when he sees the shadows on his bedroom wall." This is a sweet little board book with simple illustrations for easy comprehension. Feelings, is not my favorite in the Learn and Grow Board Book series, as I prefer the rhythmic cadence of Lisa Ann Marsoli's, 123 and ABC's, and Andrea Doering's, Colors, nonetheless the images are charming and the content is clear. Birth and up.
