If words were water, then "Lucia Passing for Normal" would be a cool, sparkling stream of Perrier that runs deep, down to the most heartfelt truths. Lucia guides us into and around key life moments, in a work is so well-crafted, passages ache to be read aloud. Truman Capote would have loved her.
BRIGHT AS A BUTTON

LUCIA is witty, wise, and wonderful. By turns funny and sad, sly and heart-rending, the book is a Godiva Chocolates Sampler that shocks the brain's pleasure center with little bites of bliss, some smooth and creamy, others unexpectedly tart and tangy. Mostly poetry in the Dorthy Park vein, there are also a couple of stories and memoirs that evoke past loves, losses, and indiscretions. Eminently readable and accessible and always squeezing the mot juste out of life's limes and lemons. A great gift for sophisticated ladies and literary lions.
Smart, Funny and Superb Writing!!

Buy this book for yourself, but order extras because you're going to want to give them to everyone you know. Besides the fantastic, smart and funny poetry, there are 3 longer pieces that tell some very funny and poignant stories. It's very satisfying and transporting to be drawn into them. A lot of the humor speaks to things and situations that the author struggles with 'getting' about this life. And since most of us find ourselves feeling that way a lot of the time, it's a comfort.
