Lu Xun's Self-Annotated Collection: And That's All/鲁迅自评版作品集：而已集 [Chinese]

By: 鲁迅

Lu Xun's Self-Annotated Collection: And That's All gathers Lu Xun's essays from 1927, including Random Thoughts on the Yellow Flower Festival, A Brief Discussion on the Faces of the Chinese People, and Reply to Mr. Youheng. These works were written in the aftermath of the counter-revolutionary coup of April 1927, a time of brutal crackdowns and widespread fear. In these pages, we see Lu Xun's raw indignation at the slaughter of revolutionaries and progressive intellectuals - and his deep sense of helplessness in the face of a darkness that seemed impenetrable. This edition pairs each essay with Lu Xun's own annotations and self-reflections, revealing his intellect, his character, his aesthetics, and his philosophy. It is Lu Xun's own "view of Lu Xun" - a rare self-portrait that deepens our understanding of the man behind the words and brings us closer to his work. Lu Xun, born Zhou Shuren in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, is the founding father of modern Chinese literature and has been hailed as the "multifaceted cultural giant of the 20th century." Liu Zengren is the Director of the Lu Xun Research Center at Qingdao University (the first of its kind in China), Vice President of the Modern and Contemporary Branch of the Chinese Academic Association of Historical Literature, and Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook of Lu Xun Studies. His publications include Lu Xun in a Multidimensional Perspective and Lu Xun Studies in a Multidimensional Perspective (1981-2017), among others.
