Love's Mourning for Midnight: Sonnets of Love

An author note - This book of poetry is for those who have a passion for the ARTS as well as love and life. For me, poetry comes alive when read aloud and through finding a connection to the emotions and philosophies of the words. These poems are of desire, pain, longing, lusting, and sometimes a reflection about the human condition and its frailties. Technically, these sonnets, coronas and sestinas, are written in iambic pentameter beat, closely matching the beats of the English language. They follow classical conventions, including rhyme patterns. However, while such conventions began with the poets, Shakespeare and Petrarca, these sonnets are in the language of today. I have always been an active participant and passionate enthusiast of the Performing Arts, as well as studying speech and drama through the Trinity College of London. However, it is my communication, writing and psychology degrees, from Deakin and Monash University, I believe, have been major influences in my writing. Studying philosophy, psychology and other subjects, tends to open the mind to all possibilities and is a catalyst for creativity
