"What the Mud Saw" is the same story as this book, but this version is less explicit. If both books were movies, this version would be rated R and the other possibly X, depending on the reader's imagination. The era is in the early nineteen-sixties before the assassination of President Kennedy. The oil business was still booming, and the Haute crowd lived in and around the River Oaks area of Houston. Our protagonist and her friends would be considered the aristocracy of Houston. Their life revolved around their careers, social clubs, and sexual encounters, not unlike today. Each one of them strived to achieve happiness in their life by leveraging their particular unique abilities. How they managed to attain their desires takes them on a collision course with a planned murder. If you were wise and careful in the sixties, it was believed that you could commit murders without retribution.
