Salom?n Leroux provokes us, she conquers us with a colloquial language, without embellishments, in a direct narrative discourse, of course, in which she transposes times and places, with different characters, who could be the same, disrupted by a historical, mystical reincarnation. Leroux is deceitful and makes fun of us in its apparent simplicity, setting traps for us by bringing us a fine wine of recondite essences in a tin vessel, because behind the apparent simplicity there is a motley intricacy of possible readings, leaving in the culture and sensitivity of the reader the final task of interpreting and enjoying the honeys in the depth of the work.
As in the Masonic rite, the symbols are essence, incarnations of feelings and human truths of multiple edges. Los Naranjos is a drop of arsenic covered in honey, the pain of loneliness, uprooting, the brutality of slavery, sex without love and love beyond physical existence, embodying the presence of absence, come to us in this novel in an almost whispered way. Like the maternal breath on the child's wound, who feels all the healing in the world in the mother's breath, Salom?n manages to capture us from the beginning and with a gentle breeze pushes the barge of reading until it takes us to the happy port of the end. Without rhetorical fanfare, the teacher that is Leroux gives us a lesson in perseverance with the simplicity of profound truths.
