When Queen Dido's heart was broken she cast herself upon her sword having been overcome with the grief and sorrow. When one idealizes one's lover and develops some delusions about a relationships, the loss of the relationship can feel like a wound that may never heal. Yet, there comes a time to move on lest dwelling in it becomes one's state and one never leaves the piercing blade.

Sam Casey is a poet and writer. Currently, she is an instructor at USNA in the English Department. Her specialties are in Classical Literature, Gender and Sexuality and canonization.
Her prose has been featured in Wrong Turn Lit, The Investor's Handbook and The Haven. She has appeared in two anthologies, The Selkie and The Haunted Zone: A Horror Anthology for Military Women. Her poetry has been published by Quill Keepers Press, Eternal Haunted Summer and Hallaren, among other places. Her poetry chapbook Erotic Trauma was published in October, 2023 with Naked Cat Publishing.
