There is NO Love OR Money

START OF BACK COVER TEXT - Why do relationships go bad? Sylvia believes the problems started when she found her partner of seven years in the arms of another woman. She begs and pleads with Peg not to leave her, and Peg is overcome with guilt over the pain she's caused. Torn by conflicting emotions, she finds herself unable to leave Sylvia, but unwilling to give up Lauren When does love turn to hate? When Peg tries to move out, Sylvia sees herself as the victim and wages a vicious campaign of lies and threats to win Peg back - straining Peg's personal and professional life to the breaking point. How long can true love wait? Lauren has wanted Peg since the day they met, and has been her secret lover for more than two years. But how long can the passion last in the face of Peg's inability to make a clean break with the past? - END OF BACK COVER TEXT Regardless of the author's personal history, I am often disenchanted by Jackie Calhoun's tendency to write about infidelity. Her books often have one or more main characters that are having affairs on their husbands or partners. That said, there is generally a fundamental, irreconcilable breakdown in the initial relationship, leading to the second relationship. Such is the case with `Love or Money,' as Peg leaves Sylvia for Lauren. Sylvia and Peg have been together almost ten years. Sylvia loves Peg, but especially loves to control the other woman. Peg finds it difficult to live in these circumstances and turns to Lauren for the true love she deserves. When she finally makes moves to leave Sylvia, Peg finds herself the victim of vandalization, slander, and an unwanted outing to her family and employer. Lauren does what she can to support her lover, but knows Peg needs to work through the break-up on her own. Despite her typical premise, I continue to read Calhoun's books - both older and new releases - because I like her writing. Even in this book, her characters are somewhat complex and emotional. The story is engaging and keeps the reader interested from cover to cover.
