Kerry and Ryan live life on the B-side, a secondary existence in deference to their own passions and dreams. Kerry is a career-driven wealth manager who has lost her affection for music due to the demands of her job and the faults of a dad who ruined her singing career at a young age. Ryan, a down-on-his-luck hermit trying to restart his reality after being jilted by the love of his life, spends his days woefully reliving songs of that past euphoria. Through a series of amusing coincidences, Kerry and Ryan develop a friendship reliant upon, not just their varied musical tastes, but also their shared distaste for being vertically-challenged, i.e., he's a little too tall and she's a little too short.

Slowly, the two form a connection as he brings the love of music back into her life through a series of playlists and concert experiences, and she helps navigate his way back into society through diverting attempts at comedy and karaoke singing. During this time, both ponder if love or just friendship is the climax to a relationship that holds plenty of harmony but also plenty of question marks as to whether their B-side lives can collectively transform into that rare smash hit.
