My eyes fluttered open as the irritating noise banged in my ear. The room was blurry; I reached across the bed, but it was cold.

The sensation caused my eyes to open completely. There was no one beside me, just a myriad of pictures spread across the white sheet.

I rubbed the side of my mouth where some drool had escaped. I looked around the dimly lit apartment and the reality of my situation once again hit. My husband of ten years had left me.

I was alone.

I picked up one of the photos and looked at it. My caramel eyes smiled back at me, my cheek pressed up against the freckled shoulder of the man I promised to spend the rest of my life with. His copper hair shone in the natural light- his lips gently pressed to my forehead.

The sun was setting on the scenic beach behind us.
